Do You Love Me? 2

“This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his
disciples since he had been raised from the dead.
After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, "Simon son
of John, do you love me more than these?" "Yes,
Lord," Peter replied, "you know I love you." "Then
feed my lambs," Jesus told him. Jesus repeated the
question: "Simon son of John, do you love me?" "Yes,
Lord," Peter said, "you know I love you." "Then take
care of my sheep," Jesus said. A third time he asked
him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?”
John 21:14-17 (NLT)

Yesterday we started examining the
conversation that took place between Jesus and Peter,
one of His disciples, in our
opening scripture. From the response of Jesus to
Peter when he answered that he loved the Lord, we
can see that rising to feed His lambs or to take care of
His sheep is the proof of your love for Him.

Are you feeding His lambs or are you taking care of
his sheep? If you are not involved with any of the
above, you do not love Him. You cannot love God on your
own terms. He shows clearly in His Word
what to do in expressing our sincere love for Him. If
you are not doing those things it is proof that you
don't love Him.

Now that you know what is expected of you, start
prioritizing His lambs and sheep. Jesus said, “…
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of
these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Matthew 25:40.
