Love Is A Verb

“We know what real love is from Christ's example in
dying for us. And so we also ought to lay down our
lives for our Christian brothers. But if someone who
is supposed to be a Christian has money enough to
live well, and sees a brother in need, and won't help
him-how can God's love be within him? Little
children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us
really love them, and show it by our actions.”
1 John 3:16-18 (TLB)

In the New Testament, love is not a noun, love is
a verb. The Lord Jesus proved this to us with His
life by His example. He showed us what real
love is by dying for us. He acted out His love to us in
His action. We ought to do the same for others
because love is a verb.

Love is an action word. It is not passive affection.
Love is active devotion. It is compelling and
consuming.

Jesus commanded us in John 13:34 saying, “A new
commandment I give unto you, That ye love one
another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one
another.”

He also said in John 15:12-13, “This is my
commandment, That ye love one another, as I have
loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that
a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that You cause my love to
abound more and more towards all believers and
towards all men, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
