“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”
Ephesians 4:26-27(KJV)
From our opening scripture, we can see that through anger, the devil can gain influence over the life of a Christian because anger can give place to the devil in our lives. The word place in this verse is from the Greek word 'topos' meaning, license or opportunity. So, don't give the enemy license into your life by keeping anger.
If you are angry with others and you remain angry for months, that anger will develop into bitterness. I want you to know that bitterness and anger is satan's opportunity into your life. Satan will use that as a bait to ruin your life. I will like to show you the consequences of bitterness.
Hebrews 12:15 says, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;” The grace in this verse we just read is from the Greek word 'charis' meaning favour. This means that when you are angry with someone who did something against you and you keep on holding that in your heart, the bible says it will trouble you and you will fall from favour with God.
In Matthew 18:23-35 where the Bible talks about forgiveness, one servant refused to forgive the other, and as a result of his unforgiveness, his lord cast him to the tormentors. Some of you reading this devotional right now may be experiencing a lot of hardship, things are difficult and it is as though you are cursed. I want you to know that if you will forgive the people who have wronged you, you will find out that you will begin to come out from some of these bondage that you are going through today.
PRAYER
Dear Father, today in obedience to your word to me, I let go of all bitterness and anger that I have held against all those who have wronged me. I choose to bless and not curse in Jesus Name. Amen.
