“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3:16(KJV)
Some people do not know why they keep on having one problem or the other in their lives. Some will tell you, how their car had a problem last week, and their house almost got burnt last month, at another time a car hit their child. If you are having series of problems such as these in your life, I will encourage you to stay away from strife.
If you will stay away from strife, I tell you based on the Word of God, that you will stop every evil work. You can stop satan in his tracks. All it takes is for you to walk in love and choose to forgive.
Do you know that addictive behavior is traced to bitterness? Hebrews 12:15-16 says, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.” So, if you want to break your bad habits, you must choose to forgive others and choose not to hold them bound. If you don't, you will remain vulnerable to satan.
For example, some people have refused to forgive their father because he had some children outside of wedlock, now they also have become bound to the same weakness because they now have children outside of wedlock.
So, you need to forgive people if you don't want to repeat their sin. There are certain young men today who have gotten second and third wives who never intended to, but because they continued to hold unforgiveness and bitterness in their hearts, they have made the same mistake.
Therefore, to stop certain trends you see in your family that are like generational curses, you need to forgive those you are holding bitterness against in your family. And as you do you will liberate yourself from every form of addiction and oppression.
