Don't go your own way

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry...”              1 Samuel 15:23(KJV)

I will like you to notice in our opening scripture today that stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. This means that the Bible sees stubbornness like serving idols, because stubbornness is self worship because you are choosing to do your own thing above all else.

When you choose to do your own thing above what God has said, and above divine instruction, or constituted authority it means you are worshiping yourself. Every time you insist to go your own way and to do your own thing, you are worshiping yourself, in other words you have made yourself a god to yourself, and remember God said in Exodus 20:3, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

This is why you should not become rebellious or stubborn against God because if you are, it means that you have put yourself before God and when that happens it can only lead to a fall. That was why Saul fell, he fell because he was rebellious and stubborn to the Word of God and divine instruction, therefore God rejected him from been king. (See 1 Samuel 15:23-28)

Stubbornness is an expression of pride, and the Bible says in Proverbs 16:18, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” 1 Peter 5:5 says, “…God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
